This is quote from a presentation I watched during my EPSY 400 class on collaborating with parents when working with a child with a disability. The woman who spoke this said it from the view of a person who lived this as a child herself, a parent of a child who exhibited this, and a teacher who saw it in her classroom. It was a very powerful quote for me because it reminds me to try and recognize the root of behaviour problems- why are kids acting i certain ways? Bad behaviour is often used as a shield; whether it be against looking stupid, or hiding emotional distress. I challenge you all to dig deeper into the meaning of bad behaviour that the children in your classroom exhibit, because maybe they are just trying to hide.
