The More I Know, the More I Wonder..

First of all apologies for being M.I.A. for the last little while- I have been insanely busy with homework, applications, and interviews!  I know tons of posts in one day is not ideal but it happens to the best of right?  So my apologies in advance…

To start off; I have noticed a trend in my most of classes this semester- how do we as teachers reach all of our learners?  This includes students with learning disabilities, students from different cultural, ethnic or socio-economic conditions.  Some tools that have been presented in my classes are technology, oral or written stories, culturally responsive literacy, universal design for learning, manipulatives, using the funds of knowledge of the student, backwards design, and  extra support in the form of EAs, LAT, counsellor, occupational therapists,  a PLN, or colleagues.

It is a little bit overwhelming.  However, the core concept I have learned is that serving all of your students to the best of your ability is the number one priority of a teacher.  The more you learn about different techniques, resources, materials, ideas, and connect with people who can help you support your students the better teacher you will be.

A teacher is a profession which demands constant growth and learning, as we strive to become better for our students.  In this way I am continuing my journey as I grow in knowledge, but my curiosity and questioning only grows as well- the more I know the more I wonder and realize I don’t know.  Which I think is okay- teachers all undergo professional development because they recognize the need for ongoing learning.
